TEDxBroadway's David Korins Featured on TED.com

“What’s the Best Broadway Can Be?”

The TEDxBroadway organizers asked David Korins, the award-winning designer for Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen, to contribute to this question at the seventh annual event held in February 2018. The result was his powerful talk, A Revelation of Space.”

Today, David’s talk has been selected from hundreds of thousands of TEDx talks from across the globe to be featured on the TED.com channels.

“We’re incredibly proud of David, his inspiring talk really struck a chord with our audience at TEDxBroadway and now the entire TED community will have the chance to appreciate his revelation,” says TEDxBroadway Co-Founder, Jim McCarthy.

In his TEDxBroadway talk, David explains how you don’t need to be a set designer to design. He shares his three-step process for design that works not only for Broadway shows, but for any space you find yourself in. He challenges his audience to rethink architectural standards, remember that color is emotion and also that Mother Nature may not carve an interesting or helpful path for you — you’ve got to do it yourself.

David is the award-winning founder and principal designer of David Korins Design, a multidisciplinary creative firm developing and designing innovative experiences. David is represented on Broadway with the back-to-back Tony Award-winning hits Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen. He is currently the set designer of Beetlejuice and the creative director of Hamilton: The Exhibition. David has worked as creative director for Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Sia, Mariah Carey and Andrea Bocelli.
